The new Aprilia 450cc v-twin we revealed in our article dated September 16, 2003 will make its race debut next weekend in Belgium at a round of the Supermotard World championship. The 77 degree v-twin with electronic fuel injection will be ridden by roadracer Alex DeAngelis.

These photos of the machine reveal just how compact this v-twin really is, and also highlight the effort by Aprilia to create equal length exhaust pipes for the front and rear cylinders.

Next year, Aprilia is expected to campaign this bike not only in supermotard racing series, but also motocross. Aprilia is rumored to be negotiating with multi-time World Motocross champion Mickael Pichon to ride the 450 in next year’s World championship.
