When Aprilia announced its 450cc v-twin off road/supermoto machine a couple of months ago, it wasn’t too difficult to imagine that a 250cc four-stroke single would follow close behind. After all, each cylinder displaces 225cc in the v-twin, and is remarkably compact and lightweight.

Now a rumor has surfaced in Europe that Aprilia has, in fact, begun development of a 250cc four-stroke single cylinder off-road machine. It seems Aprilia is bent on making a big splash off-road, and a 250cc four-stroke single would allow Aprilia to compete in more than one motocross world championship category.
