Chad Reed Injures Shoulder; Will Miss European Rounds of World Supercross GP

The following press release was received by MD today concerning a shoulder injury to Chad Reed. Both Reed and Ricky Carmichael (who was injured last week) will miss the European rounds of the World Supercross GP, but Reed (unlike Carmichael) hopes to be ready for the AMA Supercross series beginning on January 3, 2004 in Anaheim, California.

Cypress, CA (December 1, 2003) – – Team Yamaha Factory rider, and current World Supercross Champion, Chad Reed injured his shoulder in an off the track accident this past weekend. After visiting with his doctor, Reed was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and is scheduled for orthoscopic surgery early this week.

Chad Reed will be unable to compete in either of the World Supercross races beginning this weekend in Europe. Reed will be rehabilitating his shoulder in the coming weeks and hopes to return to Anaheim, site of his first AMA 250cc win, for the opening round of the AMA Supercross series on January 3, 2004.
