With the opportunity to ride many of the latest motorcycles shod with the latest rubber, one thing has become crystal clear. Tire technology is improving, rapidly. Tread compounds and carcass construction have moved well beyond the state-of-the-art just a couple of years ago.
We are seeing significantly better new tires from all of the major manufacturers, including Michelin, Bridgestone, Metzler, Pirelli and Dunlop. Our recent test of the Pirelli Diablo, will give you some indication of how good modern tire design and construction has become. Expect more tire reviews from MD.
In the meantime, if you are one of those people who rides your bike infrequently, and you have tires on your bike designed several years ago, think about putting a fresh set of tires on. You will be surprised how good the newest designs are, and how much better your bike will handle with fresh rubber.
