Suzuki’s MX1 star, Joel Smets, injured his knee four weeks ago, and made his comeback appearance at the first round of the Belgium Motocross championship this weekend at Mons. Several top riders used the Mons event as a tune-up for the MX1 championship, which begins on the 21st of this month at Zolder.
Smets finished the three motos at Mons in third, fourth and fifth place, indicating he should be in racing shape for the first round of the MX1 championship. At the same event at Mons, world champion Stefan Everts injured his ribs in a practice crash. No word yet on whether this will prevent him from entering the Zolder opening round of MX1.
