So, after all the speculation about whether Valentino Rossi and Yamaha could be competitive in MotoGP this year, Rossi proceeds to record the fastest lap at the Catalunya tests this weekend, featuring all of the major MotoGP teams. In the process, Rossi took home a prize BMW automobile.
Right behind Rossi, literally within a couple of tenths of a second, were four Hondas, piloted by Alex Barros, Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards and Sete Gibernau. Rossi’s teammate, Carlos Checa, was ninth quickest, just six-tenths of a second behind Rossi. Ducati and Suzuki posted competitive times, as well, within half a second of Rossi’s quickest lap.
