Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi won his debut race for his new employer at the opening round of the MotoGP series in Welkom, South Africa today, after a long battle with rival Max Biaggi (Honda) who finished a close second. Finishing third was Sete Gibernau (Honda).
The American riders were led home by Nicky Hayden (Honda) in fifth, with Colin Edwards (Honda) finishing seventh.
