Tomorrow’s Washougal, Washington AMA National Motocross series round will present the biggest challenge for Ricky Carmichael this year, as he attempts to continue his unbeaten streak and his march toward a second perfect Outdoor season (he recorded the first perfect Outdoor season in 2002, winning 24 of 24 motos). Why is Washougal pivotal? It is pivotal, because Kevin Windham (who also rides a Honda) loves Washougal, and beat Carmichael there last year with perfect 1/1 moto scores. Windham also beat Carmichael at Washougal two years prior, during the 2001 season. Windham is a formidable rider on the Washougal track, and Carmichael knows it. During the Washougal practice held today, Carmichael was significantly quicker than Windham, although Windham recorded the second quickest lap time.
