With James Stewart moving to the 250 class next year, you might be tempted to think the 125 class will be a free-for-all with several potential champs. Rookie Broc Hepler, however, gets stronger and stronger every week, and may be emerging as the favorite for 2005, particularly outdoors.
Hepler has been second overall to Stewart at four separate rounds outdoors this year. He is second in the points, having passed Mike Brown (Yamaha) — the cagey veteran and former 125 champ.
Although Hepler is pretty good indoors, too, his consistency and speed have really impressed everyone outdoors this year. He is very focused on improving, and trying to learn from Stewart’s techniques to go faster. He is also known for his humility and positive attitude. He is definitely a rider to watch closely in 2005.
