Coming into this weekend’s AMA Superbike double-header at VIR, Yoshimura Suzuki’s Mat Mladin carries a 42 point lead over Jake Zemke (Honda) in the championship points race. Assuming that the uber-consistent Mladin finishes close behind Zemke in the first race of the double-header, he will have his fifth AMA championship in the bag before he even lines up for the second race.
Only an uncharacteristically poor performance by Mladin could derail his championship momentum at this point. Check back Sunday to see the results of both VIR Superbike races.
