Nominations for the AMA Pro Racing Speed Channel Athlete of the Year Award are complete, and the nominees represent the variety of motorcycle-racing disciplines.
MX racers Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart have been nominated, along with roadracer Mat Mladin and flat-tracker Chris Carr. All these riders have already wrapped up titles in 2004.
By contrast, nominees Jeff Ward and Doug Henry are both competitors in the incomplete 2004 AMA Supermoto series, which will end its second season this Friday in Las Vegas. Interestingly, Ward and Henry are both prior winners of the Athlete of the Year Award.
The AMA Pro Racing Speed Channel Athlete of the Year will be awarded this Sunday at the AMA Pro Racing Awards Banquet in Las Vegas.
