Honda Dynasty Rolls In Baja

It doesn’t seem that long ago to me (okay, I’m an old guy) that Kawasaki dominated Baja racing. With riders like Larry Roeseler and the late Danny Hamel, Kawasaki was pretty much expected to win the Baja 500/1000 races. Well, we are now in the Honda era in Baja.

Honda won the Baja 1000 race again this year (completed Friday morning), with a Steve Hengeveld, Johnny Campbell and Kendal Norman team. This trio, aboard a Honda XR650R, finished nearly one-half an hour ahead of the second place motorcycle team (Team KTM). I’m not sure how many Bajas Honda has won in a row, but it must be close to ten, now. Pretty much like the dominance Kawasaki showed at one time, but the bikes are now red instead of green.
