Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) pulled away from an early battle with Chad Reed (Yamaha) to take his third consecutive 250cc main event victory tonight at the San Francisco round of the AMA Supercross series. Reed was unable to stay up with Carmichael, but still took a comfortable second-place finish. The final podium spot went to Honda veteran Mike Larocco. Kevin Windham crashed early in the race and was forced to fight his way through the pack, eventually finishing in ninth place. Carmichael continues to lead in the 250cc championship points.
In the 125cc West main event, Billy Laninovich (Honda) came away with the win, with Andrew Short (Honda) taking the second step on the podium after an unsuccessful attempt to chase down Laninovich for the lead. Defending champion Ivan Tedesco (Kawasaki) battled back from a poor start to cross the line in third, and retain possession of the 125cc points lead.
