Veteran racer Pierfrancesco Chili will mark his eleventh season of competition in the World Superbike Championship in 2005, racing a Honda CBR1000RR for the Klaffi Honda team. Fan favorite Chili has been racing WSB since 1995, when he took a win at Monza and three other podiums to make an impressive debut season.
Chili made his reputation racing Ducati V-Twin Superbikes, but he has had some experience on fours, including a stint on a Suzuki GSX-R750 a few years ago. Last year he rode a Ducati for the PSG-1 team.
“Frankie” has never finished higher than 4th in the championship, but he is a perennial contender for race wins. In fact, having completed ten seasons in WSB, he has won at least one race in every season except 2002 (where his best finish was second). Chili finished on the podium 9 times in 2004, and 7 in 2003.
Despite being far past the typical retirement age for most professional motorcycle racers (and almost twice the age of one of his competitors!), expect Pierfranceso Chili to be up at the front in 2005, battling for the win.
