Clear Channel/JamSports Supercross Dispute Finally Comes to Trial

You may recall our articles back in 2001 detailing the dispute between Clear Channel and JamSports over promotion of the AMA Supercross series (see our articles dated November 13, 2001, November 21, 2001, November 27, 2001, November 28, 2001, and April 12, 2002). The AMA was ready to end their relationship with Clear Channel and turn Supercross promotion over to JamSports, but, according to JamSports, Clear Channel allegedly used its influence to insure that a JamSports-promoted AMA Supercross series would be a flop, forcing the AMA to renew Clear Channel’s association with the SX series.

These allegations by JamSports resulted in their filing of a lawsuit against Clear Channel Entertainment in Chicago. According to an article in the Chicago Sun-Times, opening arguments in this case began Tuesday at the U.S. District Court in Chicago.

If JamSports wins the legal battle against Clear Channel, they could be awarded damages well into the millions of dollars.
