With a new BMW automobile up for grabs, Sete Gibernau (Honda) set the quickest lap time and won the car at the Catalunya MotoGP tests completed today. Second quickest was World champion Valentino Rossi (Yamaha).
While several riders and teams have emerged as possible threats in MotoGP this year, old favorites Gibernau and Rossi re-emerged as the quickest today. Honda clearly had the best test, with Nicky Hayden third quickest today.
In the disappointments column would have to be Bridgestone and Ducati. Neither Bridgestone, nor its flagship team, Ducati MotoGP, consistently ran near the front at Catalunya. Ducati’s early testing success this year seemed to level off.
