At the beginning of the supercross series, it was anticipated that Kevin Windham would be battling for race wins every weekend – just as he did last year. For the most part (he did win the mud race at Anaheim One), however, Windham has been content to circulate the track well behind the battle up front between Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed.
Last saturday night in Pontiac, Michigan, Kevin Windham apparently woke up. He beat Chad Reed in his heat race, holeshot the main event and led for more than half the race. He ultimately took third after slowing a bit late in the race. Nevertheless, Windham showed the same fire at Pontiac that he displayed during most of the Supercross series last year when he battled Chad Reed nearly every weekend for a race win.
We are not sure what happened, but we are glad Windham is back to his old form.
