Ricky Carmichael announced at a press conference today that he will race the U.S. Open Supercross event this weekend in Las Vegas aboard his four-stroke Suzuki RM-Z450. In the past, Carmichael has always switched to a 250cc two-stroke machine for Supercross racing.
Also, today it was announced that Kevin Windham (Honda) will race the U.S. Open this weekend. We had previously reported that Windham underwent surgery to repair a hernia following the Motocross des Nations event — something Windham had announced on more than one occasion. We are unsure why, but Windham will be racing this weekend.
