As soon as Chinese interests attempted to buy a huge American oil company earlier this year, Americans panicked. Apparently, the memory of China as a communist enemy has yet to be overtaken by the reality of the modern, capitalist China.
Among other things, China now manufactures motorcycles and scooters by the thousands, and the recent acquisition of Benelli by Qianjiang shows that at least one manufacturer is willing to expand its horizons beyond China’s borders. Qianjiang will continue to manufacture Benellis in Italy.
Chinese firms are gaining more experience and confidence. Expect to see more Chinese inroads into motorcycle manufacturing worldwide.
