The final race of the MotoGP series turned out to be a battle between the two riders with a shot at second place in the championship. In the end, Marco Melandri (Honda) won a close-fought battle over Nicky Hayden (Honda). Melandri’s margin of victory was less than one-tenth of a second. Finishing third today was the champion Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) with an impressive ride from a 15th place grid position (Rossi’s poor qualifying position resulted from a crash yesterday).
