In an interview conducted by MD this past Friday of Paolo Timoni, CEO of Piaggio USA, it was revealed that Aprilia plans to contest the AMA Supermoto title with its new V-twin SXV. This is a bike that has already captured the Supermoto S2 World championship.
Although the legality of a V-twin in the 450 class may have to be sorted out, at the very least we would expect Aprilia to contest the Open class, if necessary under AMA rules. Stay tuned for Alex Edge’s interview of Paolo Timoni to be published later this week.
