Tonight the AMA Supercross Series visited Anaheim for the third and final time this year, and Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) cleaned up the Supercross class in front of the California crowd. Carmichael’s main rival, James Stewart (Kawasaki), struggled tonight, crashing in the first corner and then twice more, on lap two and lap three. Stewart ended the race in 8th.
Carmichael pulled out a comfortable cushion and cruised to the win, more than ten seconds ahead of second-place Chad Reed (Yamha). Ivan Tedesco (Suzuki) finished third, after battling with Reed for a good part of the race.
In the Supercross Lites class, the win went to Grant Langston (Kawasaki), with Andrew Short (Honda) second, and Mike Alessi (KTM) third.
Ricky Carmichael now carries a 13-point lead in championship points over Chad Reed, with Stewart third and just one point behind Reed. Grant Langston now leads the points in the Lites class, with 94 points to Andrew Short’s 93.
