Ducati’s Troy Bayliss left the opening round of the WSB championship in Qatar today with the points lead after taking two second place finishes. Winning Race 1 was James Toseland (Honda) after the two early leaders crashed out on the last lap (Noriyuki Haga and Yukio Kagayama). Finishing behind Bayliss in third place in Race 1 was Andrew Pitt (Yamaha). Defending champ Troy Corser (Suzuki) finished fourth in Race 1.
Corser came back to win Race 2 over Bayliss, with Haga (Yamaha) finishing third.
