Race One of the two-race WSB event at Phillip Island came down to the wire today, with Troy Corser (Suzuki) taking the win by just .45 seconds over former MotoGP rider Alex Barros (Honda). James Toseland (Honda) was a somewhat distant third, almost 8 seconds behind the lead pair.
Fans hoping for another battle to the finish in Race Two were unfortunately destined to be dissapointed. Troy Bayliss (Ducati) dominated Race Two, passing James Toseland with six laps to go and steadily pulling away to finish more than 5.5 seconds ahead. Toseland was all by himself in second, with Alex Barros another 8 seconds back in third.
Bayliss now holds a one point lead in the championship, with 75 points to Toseland’s 74.
