The AMA Supercross series visited Detroit, Michigan tonight, where James Stewart (Kawasaki) led from start to finish to win by more than 4 seconds over second-placed Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki). Chad Reed (Yamaha) was second for most of the race before being passed by Carmichael in the closing laps – he held on to finish third, a scant 1.2 seconds behind RC.
In the Supercross Lites class, the win went to Honda’s Josh Grant, who was followed home by championship points leader Davi Millsaps (Honda). Kawasaki’s Chris Gosselaar was a distant third.
Carmichael holds a ten-point lead in the Supercross class points race, with 259 points to Reed’s 249. In the Supercross Lites class, Millsaps has 141 points to Grant’s 119 with one round left in the series.
