After looking like another Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) runaway, the World champ suffered more bad luck when his bike stopped running with seven laps remaining, allowing Honda’s Dani Pedrosa to briefly take the lead, before he was overtaken by Marco Melandri (Honda) and, on the last lap, Loris Capirossi (Ducati). They finished in that order, with Melandri winning, Capirossi second and Pedrosa third. Despite threatening weather, the race was run on a dry track.
Nicky Hayden (Honda), who finished fifth today, continues to enjoy a small points lead in the championship series. For all the details, results and points, visit the official MotoGP site here.
