In the conclusion of my Night Rod Special and VRSCX First Ride article on Monday, I lamented the fact that Harley-Davidson doesn’t produce the combination that would create my ideal V-Rod – a matte-black Night Rod Special (with its blacked out frame and engine) powered by the bored-out 1250cc Revolution V-Twin found in the new VRSCX.
Luckily, one of our readers was kind enough to write in and inform me that Harley-Davidson offers the same engine mods that come standard on the VRSCX (ported cylinder heads, revised cams, and big-bore pistons – increasing displacement from 1130cc to 1250cc) as a package through their Screamin Eagle accessories division.
The entire package retails for $2,699.95 (parts only, labor costs extra), and can be installed on any V-Rod by the mechanics at your local Harley-Davidson dealer.
Unfortunately, nobody gets into motorcycle journalism for the big paychecks – but if any of our readers want to build the combination described above, I’d love to borrow it for some, uhh, testing…
