Davi Millsaps surprised a lot of people in the Outdoor Motocross National events last year — frequently finishing in the top 5, with more than one podium. Millsaps, however, is every bit the supercross specialist, and Honda had high hopes for his performance in the 2007 AMA Supercross series.
Several news agencies are reporting that Millsaps broke his femur practicing earlier this week. Femur breaks frequently involve a minimum of three months recovery before returning to riding/racing. Millsaps will almost certainly miss several rounds of the AMA Supercross series, and perhaps the entire first half of the series in 2007. Millsaps had been expected to be one of the few riders to mix it up with James Stewart (Kawasaki) and Chad Reed (Yamaha) now that Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) is semi-retired (racing selected events only).
