Jeff Ward (Honda) clinched the 2006 AMA Supermoto Championship with a runner-up finish in Race One of today’s season finale in Long Beach, California. Taking the win in Race One was Yamaha’s Mark Burkhart, and behind Ward in third was championship runner-up Doug Henry (Yamaha).
With the championship in hand, Ward raced for the win in Race Two, eventually taking first place just ahead of Henry. Third place went to Chris Fillmore (Honda).
