The new Ducati 1098 has been a huge success, both with the press and with enthusiasts. But what about a little brother? What about the 749? The 749 is leaving, and the 848 should be arriving . . . in 2008.
This is according to Ducati’s own president, Federico Minoli, who reportedly discussed the successor to the 749 on his blog.
An engine displacing roughly 850cc would not be eligible for racing under any current supersport rules, but the displacement makes sense, nonetheless, given Ducati’s decision to increase the displacement of the 999 to 1099cc. Expect the 848 to show up next Fall at the European motorcycle shows.
