Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) took the win in the opening round of the AMA Motocross series today in Sacramento, California with 2/1 moto finishes. Finishing second to Carmichael was James Stewart (Kawasaki; 1/4). Stewart’s teammate Tim Ferry finished third (3/3).
In the Motocross Lites class, Kawasaki teammates Ben Townley and Ryan Villopoto dominated with two wins and two second place finishes. Townley took the overall win (2/1), while Villopoto was credited with second overall with 1/2 finishes. Third went to Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey with 3/3 results.
