All those critics who crowed that Nicky Hayden was an unworthy MotoGP champion last year must now be gloating. After six rounds in 2007, Hayden lies outside the top ten in points, and seems to have no clue about how to run near the front (consistently or not) on race day.
Although Honda admits it missed the mark with its new 800, Dani Pedrosa is third in points and consistently hovers on or near the podium — far ahead of Nicky Hayden.
It is getting too late for Hayden to mount any serious title defense as Casey Stoner (Ducati) and Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) have clearly emerged as the main title contenders for 2007.
