There should be a new Honda CBR1000RR introduced this Fall as a 2008 model. The bike is rumored to be substantially lighter than the current version (going on a diet similar to the new CBR600RR), but maintain its traditional in-line four cylinder engine configuration (rather than a v-four or five previously rumored).
The bike is also rumored to homologate several new electronic systems for future superbike competition, including traction control. It is possible Honda will also feature switchable engine maps, similar to the current Suzuki GSX-R1000.
