With the announced signing of John Hopkins to a two-year deal, and the statement that it is already close to signing another top rider (a “proven MotoGP race winner”), the Kawasaki MotoGP team officially ends its development cycle, and is looking for lots of podiums, and even a championship, in 2008.
With a number of top MotoGP riders already signed for 2008, Hopkins was, perhaps, the cherry everyone wanted to pick. The Ninja ZX-RR is now a proven, competitive machine with a great tire package (from Bridgestone) — the tires Hopkins already knows well. With Ducati and Yamaha now dicing for the championship, the days of Honda’s domination of the top level roadracing series have long since ended, but 2008 may bring even more players into the mix for the title.
