The Sweet Spot

After looking at the lap times posted by the MotoGP bikes and the AMA Superbikes at Laguna Seca on the same race day last weekend, I started to think about something.

Everyone remembers the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The part about the porridge. One bowl was too hot, one was too cold, and one was just right.

A number of readers have lamented the “death” of the 750 class (although, of course, Suzuki still makes one). There is some thought that 600s are too small, 1000s too big, and 750s just right. Maybe 800s are just right?

The 800s have much higher corner speed than the 990s did. They are almost as fast in a straight line (and can have higher straight-away speed when corner exit speed onto the straight-away is important).

So, when are the production 800s coming? I need to know. I want to ride one.
