Of all the riders changing teams, or riding for the first time in MotoGP, John Hopkins seems the most comfortable on his new machine. He is not only at the top of the time sheets on the second day of testing at Sepang, but he posted a time that would have seen him qualify approximately sixth for the MotoGP race recently held at this venue. Kawasaki’s development of their MotoGP bike has been impressive, and the team could be ready to break through in 2008 with Hopkins. Could Hopkins be a dark horse for the 2008 championship? That is probably saying too much, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see him visit the podium quite frequently.
