It is no secret that motorcycle sales are softening. This is true in some categories more than others. The touring market might be an exception.
You are seeing more tourers, cruisers or otherwise, for a reason. Manufacturers see this as a growing market, and the aging “baby boomer” generation in the US is apparently fueling it. I think we can expect to see not only new models, but new technology in this segment.
Tourers are the perfect platform for automatic transmissions, GPS devices, high-end audio and wireless intercom and telephone. Frequently aimed at more affluent buyers, tourers could have many of the same features found in automobiles that cater to the buyer looking not only for luxury, but technology and convenience.
