The WSB championship for 2008 began yesterday in Qatar with Ducati’s new big-bore v-twin running up front all day long. In Race 1, Ducati took three of the top four positions with Troy Bayliss taking a close win ahead of Max Biaggi (both on Ducatis), while Troy Corser (Yamaha) finished third. Ruben Xaus (also on a Ducati) finished fourth.
In Race 2, Fonsi Nieto took the race win aboard his Suzuki, while Ducati took the five following finishing positions. Finishing in second and third aboard Ducatis were Ruben Xaus and Max Biaggi. Troy Bayliss finished fourth in Race 2.
