CR&S Vun: Elemental Fun

Leave it to the Italians to strip away all pretense to build the elemental, street-legal motorcycle. CR&S is a small company in Italy doing just that with its Vun, the bike powered by the 652cc single manufactured by Rotax for BMW. With lights and a road-legal muffler, the bike weighs in at 140 kilograms (308 pounds). Not too bad when you consider that the lightest Japanese supersport machines are roughly 50 pounds heavier.

Although CR&S claims to have an importer in Las Vegas, Nevada, don’t expect to see too many on the road. Production is extremely limited, and most units will end up in Europe.

Each Vun is unique in that customers can specify paint and other one-off features. The standard 54 horsepower output is enough to move this lightweight along smartly, but it is the handling that purportedly sets the Vun apart from its more obese competitors. An even lighter “track only” version of the Vun is available. If you would like to see more photos, and additional details and specifications, take a look at Vun’s web site here.
