A few thoughts on what is currently happening in AMA Motocross/Supercross. Outdoors, there hasn’t been much close racing this year with James Stewart dominating the Motocross Division and Ryan Villopoto dominating Motocross Lites. Recently returned Josh Grant is already showing good speed, and might create a bit more competition for Villopoto. We’ll see.
Rumors that Chad Reed may be working with Roger DeCoster at Makita Suzuki next year are heating up. Reed has been on a Yamaha for a long time, and it would be strange seeing him on a yellow bike, but the DeCoster crew that worked with Ricky Carmichael the last few years could present a tempting opportunity for Reed.
Finally, young Jason Lawrence is reportedly in trouble with the law again, and suspended (and possibly fired by Boost Mobile/Yamaha of Troy). RacerX Online is reporting Jason Lawrence spent Friday night in a local jail near this weekend’s national race in Red Bud, Michigan and is now out on bail. Watch our Industry News page for press releases on Mr. Lawrence, who had already been placed on probation by the AMA following an incident with a rental car a few weeks ago.
