Robbie Knievel, the 46-year-old son of daredevil pioneer Evel Knievel, plans on jumping over the huge, newly constructed $25 million volcano at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on New Year’s Eve. More interestingly, he is also planning to jump 16 London busses on one of his dad’s old bikes. If that’s not enough Knievel nostalgia, he’s also going to attempt a jump over the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls, ID in the summer of 2010.
The stunt at the Mirage will be broadcast on FOX during a live TV special, and will likely be his last appearance in Las Vegas. It will also be his sixth live special; more than any other daredevil, according to Jeff Lowe, Robbie’s publicist. (What about Super Dave Osborne, Jeff? Huh?)
Robbie will attempt the multi-bus jump at London’s Wembly Stadium on Evel’s elderly XR750, a bike the elder Knievel failed to make a 13-bus attempt with in 1975. Hey, anybody can get big air on a long-legged motocrosser: real men jump vintage Harley dirt-trackers!
