Last November, Sport Rider Senior Editor Andrew Trevitt had a bad crash road testing a motorcycle up on the Angeles Crest Highway. The crash left him unable to walk, but his rehabilitation and therapy are proceeding well, with Trev seeming upbeat on his blog; “there are loads of other things that I’m still able to do, and I’m looking forward to trying new things that I probably never would have thought of.”
One thing Trev can count on is the support from the motorcycle industry and motorcycle community, which has been impressive. A silent auction conducted during the Speed Week at Daytona, raised over $30,000. Other supporters, including Cycle World magazine, Motorcycle-USA.com, Rider magazine and Source Interlink Media have kicked down to the tune of $23,000.
If you want to help out, there are plenty of options. You can check out this eBay auction page and bid on some items – there are some great deals here on helmets – or contact Russ Brenan at Kawasaki to donate something valuable or interesting to the auction. You can also buy a signed copy of his most-excellent book on suspension tuning. Or you can just wish him well, as all of us at Motorcycle Daily do.
