Yamaha’s James Stewart has certainly taken to his new, 2010 YZ450F rather well . . . winning the U.S. Open and the two main events he contested last weekend in Paris. Chad Reed, on the other hand, is a two-time AMA Supercross champ (2004 and 2008) who will be riding a Kawasaki next year (having switched from Suzuki). Reed is currently contesting an Australian supercross series, where he has already been winning aboard his new Kawasaki mount.
Last year, Stewart had the measure of Reed and took the title, and these two will almost certainly be on the podium every week they avoid crashing. The fact that they are each on new bikes (Stewart’s YZ450F is entirely new, and radically different from last year’s bike) makes it that much more interesting. The opening round of the Monster Energy Supercross Series will occur at Anaheim, California on January 9, 2010.
