The new products you are seeing introduced this year were in development at least two, and probably three, years ago. Acording to several industry sources, during the current recession, new product development funds have dried up.
While many OEMs are in survival mode, money that might be spent on new products is being set aside or used for other purposes. As a result, we are likely to see an historicaly low rate of new product introductions over the next few years.
