Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) won the opening round of the MotoGP series in Qatar this evening ahead of teammate Jorge Lorenzo in second place and Andrea Dovizioso (Honda) in third. Nicky Hayden (Ducati) finished fourth. Casey Stoner (Ducati) had pole position and led the race for several laps before crashing out.
