Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) won his home MotoGP event at the Jerez Circuit in Spain earlier today ahead of fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa (Honda) in second place and Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) in third. Ducati pilots Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Rookie Ben Spies (Yamaha) retired after 8 laps due to a tire problem.
