According to a report posted by Cycle News, Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto has recently undergone not one, but two, six hour surgeries on his broken leg to reconstruct both his tibia and fibula. As a result, he is likely to miss most, if not all, of the AMA Outdoor National Motocross championship series.
Villopoto broke the leg several weeks ago when he was the only rider with a realistic chance to defeat Ryan Dungey (Suzuki) for this year’s AMA Supercross championship. Dungey clinched the championship shortly thereafter. Villopoto would have been a favorite to win the Outdoor title in the 450cc class.
