Defending champ Chad Reed (Kawasaki) won the opening round of the Outdoor National Motocross series in Sacramento earlier this weekend with 1/3 moto finishes. Second overall went to Mike Alessi with a 4/1, proving the speed of his new 350cc KTM against the bigger bikes by taking the holeshot in moto 2 and pulling away. Third overall went to David Millsaps (Honda) with a 3/2.
Rookie Eli Tomac (Honda) won his first professional race in the 250cc class with a 3/1. Second overall went to Christophe Pourcel (Kawasaki; 1/3), while third overall went to Trey Canard (Honda; 7/2)
