If you have been watching amatuer motocross at all over the last five years or so, you know the name Eli Tomac. With eight Loretta Lynn’s AMA titles, and the 2009 Junior World Motocross championship, Tomac could hardly have had more success before turning pro a couple of weeks ago at the Hangtown round of the AMA Outdoor Motocross championship.
Tomac proceeded to win his debut race as a pro at Hangtown with 3/1 moto finishes. He followed that up in round two with a second place finish in moto 1 before his first relatively poor result, an 11th place in moto 2 (which wouldn’t be too bad for most rookies).
Tomac has a great attitude and work ethic. Not surprising, really, when you consider the fact that his dad John Tomac is one of the best bicycle racers in history. John Tomac was cross-country bicycle World champion in 1991 and has 10 National bicycle racing championships. He is a legend, and you can bet he has taught Eli everything he knows about winning.
