MORGANTOWN, W.V. (July 23, 2010) – It seems as thought everything is going right for Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey. The 450 Class rookie captured his sixth consecutive win of the season in front of his hometown crowd at the Rockstar Energy Spring Creek National from Millville, Minn., last weekend while also posting his fifth Rockstar Energy Fast Lap.
The opportunity to return home is always a special opportunity for the Belle Plaine native. Racing on the legendary facility throughout his youth, Dungey regularly receives some of the strongest support of any rider all season thanks to his appreciation for where he came from and the success he’s achieved.
At the start of the second moto, Dungey was forced to work his way from fifth place off the start. However, he made quick work of the competition ahead of him and moved into the top spot by the conclusion of the third lap and proceeded to lay down the quickest time of the moto just one lap later with a stellar 2:09.355. His blistering lap was over a second faster than the next closest rider, fellow Rockstar rider Tommy Hahn, and eventually led to a winning margin of over 39 seconds by the completion of the moto.
Now, Dungey sits just one point away from clinching first place in the season-long competition and acquiring the black, diamond-accented 50mm signature watch from Rockwell Watches awarded to the winner.
